Short Rib Bulgogi

Short Rib Bulgogi

This is one of my gavotte recipes, I absolutely love bulgogi. It is a simple sweet and salty marinade that make the most delicious beef. You can use virtually any red meat that you cut into small pieces and marinade. The marinade works fast because there is an enzyme in the kiwi that breaks down the fat in the meat so it really makes any meat tender. So if you’re in a pinch you can marinade the meat in as little as an hour, or you can marinade in overnight. Whatever you have time for, you can serve it over rice or over rice noodles, in a salad. However you want, it’s delicious over rice with a six minute egg or in tacos even!

Ingredients:

2-3 pounds of boneless short ribs sliced into 2 inch strips

½ cup sliced green onions

Sesame seeds

Marinade:

½ cup soy sauce

3 tablespoons sugar

1 whole kiwi (peeled)

5 cloves of garlic

2 tablespoons of ginger (or 1-2 small knobs)

½ white onion

¼ cup water

1 TS sesame seed oil

 Directions:

Combine all ingredients for the into a blender and blend well until smooth. Add meat to marinade and let sit for at least an hour. If you wish you can reserve some of the marinade as a sauce for later

Once the meat is ready cook meat over a grill grate pan outside over an open fire. Or if cooking inside, place a pan over high heat and add the meat and cook until crispy or personal liking.  Use the sesame seeds and scallions as a garnish.
